GhostGarden

Accessing unique outdoor garden spaces, Ghostgarden imagines an alternate narrative inspired by history, geography and fantasy. Utilizing GPS technologies and pocket PC's, participants embark on a surreal journey throughout a garden environment to uncover the fragments of animation, sound and video content. The exploration of real space and narrative, which is positioned throughout the gardens in about 10 different locations is unravelled when the participant enters a particular zone, guided by the Ghostgarden mapping interface. The Ghostgarden experience is unique for each particular garden space, with new content and maps developed depending on the environment. Sofar Ghostgarden has been developed for gardens in Australia and Finland. Ghostgarden Sydney was presented at the Sydney Festival in January 2008 where participants were able to borrow the devices, headphones and proper lace parasols from a fitted out Victorian cart located deep within the Sydney Botanic gardens and explore the work. The Ghostgarden team are currently developing Ghostgarden for the Iphone.
